Just got in the Saint Luis Rey Carenas Ultramar and it's a GREAT cigar. The Saint Luis Rey Carenas Ultramar is a four-viola line featuring a blend made up of a Nicaraguan habano wrapper covering Dominican tobaccos used for both the binder and filler. The name Carenas is a reference to Puerto de Carenas, which is the previous name of the Port of Havana. Very smooth, woody/nutty taste, start to finish. Never disappoints throughout.

Normally, I shy away from "flavored" cigars. Today, Bill convinced me to try the Tabak Negra. To my surprise, this is an absolute delight! Unlike the Dolce, the flavor is quite subtle. Coffee and dark chocolate make up flavors on the head of the cigar. Beneath the flavored head, is a tasty medium body cigar. The Sumatra wrapper has a good earthy tone which balances out the sweetness. The binder/filler throw a wealth of pleasant smoke-almost like an aromatic pipe tobacco. This is a PERFECT after-dinner smoke. It paired nicely with a glass of Elijah Craig.
To be honest, this is in my top 5 favorite smokes. I had two in one sitting! Get them while you can.

Smoked an AJ Fernandez New World Puro Especial tonight. One of the fine cigars out of the AJF sampler pack. Out of the sleeve, It has a nice dark, oily wrapper. Very tightly wrapped. I used a v-cut which revealed a near perfect draw. First third was typical-a mix of earthy flavors with some sweetness. The real magic was in the last two thirds. A consistent profile of coffee and....s'mores! Weird, I know. But this is a perfect after dinner smoke. Not an everyday cigar for me, but definitely one that won't disappoint. Probably the richest flavored smoke I've ever had. Smoke it slow, as it has a weird taste if you don't let it rest.
Add this to the box list Maine Street Cigar Company!

The Rocky Patel Sun Grown is our newest addition to the shop.
I smoked one this evening for the first time. It had been recommended by a regular customer.
It is a great cigar and will definitely be one of my new go to cigars. It’s very mild with some sweet notes to it. Burns really well and the draw is perfect. As you can see it has a very tight ash.
I highly recommend for any cigar enthusiasts. Come pick one up soon!

The H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon is a medium bodied cigar with a pleasantly light draw. As you burn through the first third and start to warm up that cameroon wrapper, the flavor profile really wakes up and finishes with an excellent sweetened espresso flavor on the tongue and olfactory system. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to dip their toes in to more medium bodied cigars.

Being a fan of smaller ring gauge cigars, Bill recommended this Curivari Seleccion Privada Lancero (42×7.25). It's coined as a medium-bodied cigar, but I found it more on the mild side. Right off the line, mild leather and light floral notes. It had an uneven burn in the first 1/3, but evened out afterwards. The flavor remained consistent throughout. Took about an hour and a half to smoke. Throws a decent cloud as well. Perfect anytime of day smoke IMHO.
Excellent recommendation!

As a fan of light cigars, it is hard to persuade me to leave my comfort zone of Connecticut shade wrapped stogies. At the same time, I’m always down for something new. I also enjoy a shorter smoke, about 30-45 minutes. Knowing these things about my preferences, Bill suggested the Arturo Fuente Flor Fina 858, a 6”x47 gauge cigar.
The first thing to jump out at me was the green wrapper leaf, yes they are GREEN! I have to say though, I am so glad that I bought that green cigar!
The first third starts off rather typical of any lighter cigar; wonderful draw and a light, ambiguous smoke. Now, the second third is where this thing really starts picking up traction. Very aromatic through the nasal cavity and an almost fruity after taste. The final third is basically the dessert course of this fine green lady. And brother, I hope you like mint chocolate chip ice cream. An even more aromatic sensation that will leave you thinking of mint on the nose, while very full bodied and almost creamy on the tongue, if that makes sense.
I will absolutely be picking up a few more of these in case they’re ever gone for good.

Picked this bad boy up from MSCC and was blown off my smoking stool by this Don Pepin Cuban Classic!
Without reading about it prior to lighting it, I lit it off and the fist couple puffs.... This robusto is an absolute spice bomb! Strong pepper and hardwood notes throughout. Throws off a thick rich smoke reminiscent of good camp fire. I thought I'd get a decent nicotine jolt from it, but it wasn't there. Took about an hour and fifteen to smoke. Definitely a mid-day cigar for me. If you love a spicy, full-bodied smoke-this is it!

The Villiger Nicaragua 1888 is a medium to full bodied stick with perfect construction, burn and draw. It never needed to be relit and was easy to pull smoke without it being too soft. The first 5 minutes of the smoke was a bit bitter for my liking but not unexpected for a Nicaraguan leaf. However it quickly settled into a very pleasurable smoke. Probably a little too bold for a novice cigar smoker but definitely a nice change up for someone looking for a stronger stick.

Another awesomely constructed stick with a perfect draw and burn is the Avo Classic. It has been years since I last smoked an Avo but quickly remembered what I used to love about them. The classic is aptly named as it has a classic medium bodied flavor with just enough complexity to keep you guessing. The Avo Classic might not be your every day smoke, but when you are not sure what to grab, try this one out. You’ll likely find a new friend to enjoy.

Picked up this Henry Clay Brevas from MSCC a few weeks back and the big take away is: Don't judge a book by its cover!
It's not pretty by any means. Crude label, rough looking wrapper, rigid feel, and lacks the usual cellophane wrapper that accompanies most premium cigars these days. I let it simmer in the humidor for a few weeks...not on purpose, but boy do I regret it. This cigar smokes wonderfully! A nice mild flavor of chocolate with an touch of floral accents on the exhale. Leaves a pleasant room note as well. Absolutely zero bite. It must have been rolled by a master because it was a uniform burn throughout-no touch ups needed. Paired well with a Coca Cola! A good all day smoke.
